We are a small business located in Nova Scotia, Canada supplying Luthiers around the world. We have grown from humble beginnings to provide unique quality products for your musical instrument builds. Our method of sawing logs allows for superior quality cuts. We focus on proper grain orientation to maximize blank stability, be it quarter-sawn or flat-sawn. We have a variety of maple products available, including birdseye maple, curly/flame maple, and plain sugar maple. Just let us know your needs!
Where does the name "Hades" come from? Well, it comes from Greek Mythology and refers to the God of the underworld. Fitting, since inside our roasting kiln "it's as hot as Hades"! The roasting process stabilizes the wood by slowly heating the lumber to temperatures reaching 185 degrees celsius. This collapses the cell walls and stops the moisture from re-entering the wood. The resulting lumber is dried to a moisture content of 4 to 6% relative humidity. This makes for extremely stable guitar necks and body blanks.
